NEW PIAGGIO SCOOTERS
The 50cc Piaggio Range
49cc models, also known as 50cc scooters are classified as mopeds,
the ones for sale in this sector of the Piaggio range are restricted to 30mph
and can be ridden on L-plates at 16 with a provisional licence and a CBT
or without restrictions - no L-plates and with passengers - on a full car licence
(if you passed after 2001 you will require a CBT to validate the AM entitlement)
The 125cc & 300cc Piaggio Range
The 125cc models in the range are all fully automatic, they are better suited to longer journeys
and can all be ridden with L-plates following successful completion of a CBT.
These 'learner legal' models are ideal for cutting commuting costs with
amazingly low fuel consumption, cheap road tax and affordable insurances
-not to mention free parking in most towns and cities and
the freedom to move through stationary lines of traffic with ease.
The larger engined Beverly is for A2 or full category A motorcycle licence holders only,
and makes a great alternative to a big motorcycle for the daily commute.
Along with their fully automatic transmissions, ease of ride and light effortless handling,
they have more than enough power to hold their own on the motorways as well as being
fantastically maneuoverable and offering quick pull away from the lights around town
The Piaggio Three Wheelers (Trikes)
The Piaggio MP3 range have a unique place in the marketplace, they handle the
same as a conventional 2 wheel scooter but, as they are classified as
A3 Motor tricycles (>15kw), they can be ridden on a full car licence;
in the UK and abroad by anyone who passed their car test prior to January 2013
within the UK by anyone over the age of 21 with a full car licence
(see Motor Vehicles (Driving Licences) (Amendment) Regulations 2014)
They can all be ridden on motorways and pillion passengers can be carried,
there is no requirement to take a test or display L-plates.
